Creative Rationale

This internal explainer video was commissioned by Halliburton’s Learning & Development Center of Excellence to guide global L&D teams on how to create effective learning environments. The goal was to deliver a clear, high-impact resource that standardized learning strategies across subgroups worldwide.

Goal

Produce a 4K, 60fps explainer video within 4 weeks that clearly outlines the different types of learning environments and methods, accessible to a global audience and optimized for high engagement.

Process

  • Script Development: Prioritized early scriptwriting to ensure the tone, clarity, and voice were accessible across cultures and aligned with Halliburton’s brand voice.
  • Production Planning: Eliminated rework by locking the script before starting animation.
  • Execution: Produced in Cinema 4D and After Effects with international accessibility in mind, including subtitle-ready pacing and formatting.

Goal

Produce a 4K, 60fps explainer video within 4 weeks that clearly outlines the different types of learning environments and methods, accessible to a global audience and optimized for high engagement.

Challenges

  • Condensing complex instructional methods into a tight, accessible script.
  • Balancing technical demands of 4K/60fps production under tight timelines.
  • Ensuring the final product could be understood by a global audience, requiring extensive script clarity and planning for subtitles.

  • Execution: Produced in Cinema 4D and After Effects with international accessibility in mind, including subtitle-ready pacing and formatting.

Impact and Results

The video became the department’s most-watched internal training resource of the year, with over 90% completion rate across subgroups. It set a new bar for internal content, and was cited as the benchmark for future explainer projects.

Measurable Outcomes

The video achieved a 90% average completion rate across all subgroups, making it the top-performing training asset that year. It was produced on time and under budget, with resource efficiency resulting in a 30% cost savings. These results validated the effectiveness of upfront planning, clear scripting, and strategic production pacing.

Takeaways

Successful learning content starts with intentional writing. Investing time in script development early on reduced rework, improved clarity, and ensured cultural relevance. Additionally, producing with global accessibility in mindβ€”from pacing to subtitlesβ€”played a critical role in maximizing engagement. The project underscored how strong planning and clear instructional storytelling drive both quality and efficiency at scale.
